Yiayia Despina Karapangiotis

Yiayia Despina was born and lived in Lihna Lemnos Greece and made her first trip to the USA in the 50’s. This portrait was taken to record her first trip to the USA and to be given to her (3 daughters in the USA) and her many grandchildren and now great-great-grandchildren. The irony of the picture is that the most famous portrait photographer in Philadelphia took the picture of a simple woman from a village in Greece.
