Interview with George Papadopoulos, the Family Patriarch
Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. One family, the Papadopoulos’ history was carefully preserved through stories told by grandparents and the treasured black and white photos frayed at the corners. Although decades had passed, this is what happened when the oldest living patriarch of the family traveled to Philadelphia to celebrate a life well lived, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, with the largest concentration of his extended family in the USA.
There, he toasted his family for their successes, for keeping their faith and for never ever forgetting their roots that originated in a tiny village called Polikastano near Kozani, Greece. Although separated by generations and distances, the connection and love between the 50+ family members in attendance were exhilarating.
