Ellie Kelepouris, MD Chief of Nephrology and Hypertension, Drexel College of Medicine

Dr. Ellie Kelepouris, MD is the Chief of Nephrology & Hypertension, and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Born of immigrant parents, Dr. Kelpouris had a love of learning and the importance of higher education instilled in her at a very young age. She continued to strive in the tradition of higher achievement and went on to become highly respected in her field.

She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Heart Association, and she is the advocacy ambassador of the American Heart Association Kidney Council on Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Kellepouris is a professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. She also serves as the Director of the Nephrology Fellowship program, and was interim chair of the Department of Medicine from 2016 to 2018.

In 2017, Dr. Kelepouris was elected to a two-year term as international president of the Society for Women in Nephrology and is the recipient of a three-year grant to create a national registry for “Innovative Treatments for Glomerulonephritides.”

Dr. Kellepouris is highly recognized for her leadership in the professional development and mentoring of young colleagues in nephrology, as well as continuing to be a strong advocate for new Greek Americans, to help them realize their goals and dreams.
