Peter Lambrou, Ellinikos Kosmos Radio

The Interview Series

Peter Lambrou is best known for his work in Greek radio. His strong beliefs and convictions about Paideia were often reflected in many of his radio programs that were featured throughout the golden age of Greek radio in Philadelphia. In 1970 he launched his own station, called “Ellinikos Kosmos.” A few years later the Cyprus Invasion became center stage in the community, and Peter Lambrou was at the forefront to bring attention to the issue.

Born and raised in Nafplion Greece, he arrived in Philadelphia in 1964 at the age of 26. Working for the Navy as an Engineer, he was assigned to go to the United States with a team of officers from the Greek Navy to pick up an American Military Destroyer. There, he met his future wife and eventually settle in the Philadelphia area.

Lambrou is a lifelong member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Elkins Park, PA, and has worked with many Greek-American organizations including the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley.
