Heritage Center Project Steering Committee holds first meeting.

The first Steering Committee meeting for the Heritage Center Project was held recently. The following individuals were in attendance: Andrew G. Kaffes (by phone), Nick Voutsakis, Nick Yiantsos, Alexander D. Kopastsis, Elias Pandelidis, Stephan K. Pahides, Gregory Vlassopoulos, Peter Christie and Michael Pahides. Bernadine Haws attended as a guest and has also been added to the Steering Committee.
The agenda included reports on the following items: Current Plans, Brand & Identity, Collaborative Planning, and Real Estate Development. A three-phase approach has been approved by the Steering Committee as follows: Phase I – Planning and Fundraising, Phase II – Program Development, and Phase III – Heritage Center Development.
Two initial pilot projects for youth were planned for the summer of 2011. The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia will partner with Urban Roots to support summer interns and to develop a mentoring project.
