GAHSP partners to sponsor community programs

The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia entered into a formal agreement with Urban Roots and ACE Mentor Inc. to sponsor two events and to deliver customized Urban Roots Mentoring Workshops to youth in collaboration with the YouthBuild Program of Philadelphia.
On October 16, the Society will support the Café – Community Arts Festival 2011, to be held in the Kensington South neighborhood at the Crane Arts Building. Additionally GAHSP sponsored the “Design Philadelphia” event, an initiative of Urban Roots, were local youth were recognized for their involvement in the program to be held on October 22nd.
A 16 week, eight session Mentoring Workshop for young people from the YouthBuild Program is planned from Fall 2011 to Spring 2012. Youth will be exposed to the architectural, construction and engineering industry through project-based learning. The sponsorship of the Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia will provided Greek culture and heritage related materials during specific field trips focus on the contributions of Greece to the arts, science, sports, philosophy and democracy.
