Collaboration and Synergy amongst Hellenic Societies in The Delaware Valley

January 22, 2014 in General

Greek-American societies and organizations came together to benefit the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and bring in the new year this past Friday evening at Estia restaurant. The IOCC offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to so respond.

Following a short prayer and Vasilopita cutting, leaders from The Hellenic Medical Society, Lawyers Society, Chamber of Commerce, University Club, Federation of Greek Societies of Greater Philadelphia were introduced and who spoke about their upcoming events for the New Year. The evening allowed for community networking and was highlighted by the introduction of our society and an installation created by the GAHSP .

Historical items collected from Philadelphia’s Greek American community were on display that featured the rich history of the community. GAHSP Vice President, Nick Yiantsos addressed the attendees and spoke about the organizations upcoming endeavors and invited the community to take part.

There were 100 attendees expected but over 160 attended – Estia was filled to capacity.  25 new GAHSP society members were signed up that evening and two substantial donations were made.

There was great synergy and collaboration between all the societies that participated in this event.
